. . <br /> PARK & RECREATION MEETING <br /> Tuesday, Feruary 10. 1 9q 7:00 p.m. <br /> Present: Carol Pelton La r r y Koch <br /> Floyd Laska„ Council L8130 n <br /> The meeting was called to order by Pelton. A motion *vies made by Koch to accept the minutes of the <br /> :January 12,1987 meeting. Second by Pelton, motion carried unanimously. <br /> The P&R welcomed the council laison and three candidates for the open positions on the P&R <br /> committee to the meeting. The candidates are: <br /> Steve Appel 7257 Centerville Road 653-0208 <br /> Cindy Paso hk:e 1740 Peltier Lake Drive 426-8698 <br /> Gerald LeTendre 1397 Mound Trail 426-0390 <br /> Koch and Pelton introduced the Park and Recreation Committee to the audience, outlining some of the <br /> history., rules, proceedures„ budget, problem areas of our facilities and programs, volunteer and <br /> employee experiences, eta. <br /> Next we introduced ourselves and gave our background with and goals for the P&R. The candidates <br /> then introduced themselves and stated their backgrounds and goals for the P&R. Motion was made by <br /> Pelton and seconded by Koch to recommend to the Council that all of the above listed candidates for <br /> the P&R Committee tie appointed to such committee at their February 11 1587 meeting so that the <br /> P&R Ca n proceed with the actions necessary to plan and operate our programs. Motion made by <br /> Pelton„ seconded by Koch carried unanimously. Preliminary 333i nments for P&R members are: <br /> Felton, chairman; Paschke„ secretary; Appel treasurer. <br /> Under rink business, the motion was made for the P&P. to recommend to the Council that if the City <br /> files an insurance claim for the stolen snow blower that a new snow blower be purchased during <br /> this season as there are many sales now due to the lack of snow this winter. Further, the motion <br /> :states that the P&P. be consulted before actual purchase is made to assure that it will meet our needs <br /> as well as the reeds of the city general maintenance. Motion by Koch, :seconded by Pelton, carried <br /> unani mous! u. <br /> A motion was made to officially close the rink facilities for the winter 86-87 season February 14. <br /> Due to a deteriorating ice condition and cant nued forecast of warm weather, we feel that use of the <br /> facilities will be limited as best. The closure will incl the termination of such services as an <br /> open warming house, lights, flooding, shoveling, satellite, and attendants present. <br /> Motion rnade by Koch, seconded by Pelton, carried unanimously. Coach Greg Hill was asked if their <br /> season would last much longer and he said no, due to the poor ice conditions; attendant Rick L'Allier <br /> said that the rink has been closed much of the past few weeks due to same. <br /> P&R request that the Council notify Pelton as soon as a decision has been reached and then Pelton <br /> will notify the head attendant of the closure and ask him to contact the other attendants. We will <br /> request that the attendants attend the March P&R meeting to give us a report on the 86-87 rink <br /> program and to turn in all keys. We will ask Coaches Hill end Mann to attend the March meeting to <br /> give us a report on the season, too and to turn in keys. <br />
