Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 11, 1991 at the City Hall. Chairperson Dixon called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. Present: Downing, Drilling. Absent: Reisdorfer, LeTendre. Motion by Dixon, second by Drilling to approve the May 14, 1991 meeting minutes with the following correction: Now Reads: "Chairperson Dixon called the meeting to order at x:xx p.m." Amend to Read: "Chairperson Dixon called the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m." motion carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS PLAYGROUND F.®UTPMFNT David and Debbie Allen, 1868 Prairie Drive, were present to express concerns about the Water Tower Park playground equipment. Mr. and Mrs. Allen expressed that the proposed playground equipment is too close to their home. They also expressed that residents with lots touching the park expressed that they do not want the following at the Water Tower park: - playground equipment, - a walkway, - feel that they paid more for their "private lot" and should remain that. Council member Pelton came and explained that there were no other practical choices. A 1988 City wide survey indicated that people, city wide, wanted play equipment. A possible solution of planting more trees on the upper left corner of the tot lot was discussed. However, the tree (kind and placement) need to be approved by the Park and Recreation Committee and so far the Park and Recreation Committee have not approved any. Committee member Drilling and Council member Pelton will get more information on playground equipment and if possible will attend a Playground Equipment Conference. PT1A T7NG OF TREES AT WATFRTOWFR PARK The planting of trees at the Watertower park is complete. Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, is asked to stake the trees and place wood chips around deciduous and evergreen trees. PARK AND RRCREATTON MASTER PLAN Tabled until next meeting.
