Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Park and Recreation <br /> Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting <br /> on Tuesday, June 11, 1991 at the City Hall. Chairperson Dixon <br /> called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. Present: Downing, <br /> Drilling. Absent: Reisdorfer, LeTendre. <br /> Motion by Dixon, second by Drilling to approve the May 14, 1991 <br /> meeting minutes with the following correction: <br /> Now Reads: "Chairperson Dixon called the meeting to <br /> order at x:xx p.m." <br /> Amend to Read: "Chairperson Dixon called the meeting to <br /> order at 7:20 p.m." <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> PLAYGROUND F.®UTPMFNT <br /> David and Debbie Allen, 1868 Prairie Drive, were present to <br /> express concerns about the Water Tower Park playground equipment. <br /> Mr. and Mrs. Allen expressed that the proposed playground <br /> equipment is too close to their home. They also expressed that <br /> residents with lots touching the park expressed that they do not <br /> want the following at the Water Tower park: <br /> - playground equipment, <br /> - a walkway, <br /> - feel that they paid more for their "private lot" and <br /> should remain that. <br /> Council member Pelton came and explained that there were no other <br /> practical choices. A 1988 City wide survey indicated that <br /> people, city wide, wanted play equipment. <br /> A possible solution of planting more trees on the upper left <br /> corner of the tot lot was discussed. However, the tree (kind and <br /> placement) need to be approved by the Park and Recreation <br /> Committee and so far the Park and Recreation Committee have not <br /> approved any. <br /> Committee member Drilling and Council member Pelton will get more <br /> information on playground equipment and if possible will attend a <br /> Playground Equipment Conference. <br /> PT1A T7NG OF TREES AT WATFRTOWFR PARK <br /> The planting of trees at the Watertower park is complete. <br /> Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, is asked to stake the <br /> trees and place wood chips around deciduous and evergreen trees. <br /> PARK AND RRCREATTON MASTER PLAN <br /> Tabled until next meeting. <br />
