Church, the park would become more user friendly and provide enough space for all of <br /> the desires of the City and its residents. <br /> Ms. Lien mentioned she had a conversation with Mr. Palzer earlier, and Mr. Palzer <br /> wanted to stress to the Parks and Recreation Committee the need for budgeting for a Park <br /> Director in the year 2001 (whether part -time or full- time). Ms. Lien also shared that last <br /> year she had brought this before the Parks and Recreation Committee several times, <br /> stressing the need for activities for teens. Ms. Lien had been in contact with the City of <br /> Lino Lakes several times, and they were more than willing and enthused to include the <br /> City of Centerville in their recreational activities, encouraging Centerville to become <br /> more active. The City of Centerville could offer activities in conjunction with the City of <br /> Lino Lakes, with the registrations and inquiries from Centerville's residents taken at City <br /> Hall. <br /> Mr. LeBlanc questioned Mr. Bisek if he envisioned coordinating the questions, phone <br /> calls, registrations, planning, etc., through Kelly's Korner, or through City Hall. Mr. <br /> Bisek replied that he would like to see the calls and registrations taken at City Hall. <br /> Ms. Lien stressed that staff cannot take this on at its current capacity. The Parks and <br /> Recreation Committee would have to hire a Park Director or Coordinator — whether part - <br /> time or full -time. <br /> The general consensus of the Parks and Recreation Committee was in favor of Mr. <br /> Bisek's request, adding it is great that someone is willing to do this for the City. <br /> Mr. Bisek thanked the Parks and Recreation Committee for their time; adding if anyone <br /> has any questions, to please feel free to call him. <br /> Patricia Scott (LeJournal Editor) appeared before the Parks and Recreation Committee <br /> for two reasons: the first was to discuss ideas, comments, pictures, deadlines and monthly <br /> updates from the Parks and Recreation Committee for the LeJournal. Ms. Scott requested <br /> all monthly updates be turned into her by the Friday following the Parks and Recreation <br /> Conunittee meeting. The Committee elected Ms. DeVine to be the official spokesperson <br /> (letters to the editor) tor me atonally updates to ivis. Scott. <br /> The second reason is to stress th the y o u th ( teens) are "P ou t" for something <br /> to do for their age group. They are currently using the Church parking lot for a place to <br /> ride their skateboards and bikes. Ms. Scott suggested to these teens that they create a <br /> petition and possibly coordinate a fund- raiser to use any proceeds for some type of bike - <br /> park. In addition, she stressed that these teens need to set an example, by being <br /> responsible, respectable and help with the upkeep of any type of bike track that may be <br /> forth coming. <br /> 2 <br />
