ITEM 20 — PLAYGROUND PLANS
Playground plans are required for projects proposing the development of playground facilities.
This plan should be the final design plan and correspond with your proposed cost breakdown.
The plan needs to show the accessible components of the playground area. Please highlight the
accessible surface area and identify the proposed accessible material. Also. Please list the type
and depth of the materials for the remaining surface area.
Playground facilities should be designed using the guideline in the Recommendations for
Accessible Guidelines: Recreational Facilities and Outdoor Developed Areas. Applications that
do not give enough information to determine the degree of accessibility cannot be considered for
funding.
Included in this section please find the proposed playground plans for Laurie LaMotte Park. At
this time a single play structure is being requested. The playground structure exceeds the
requirements for access under the Accessibility Guidelines for Play Areas developed by the
Federal Access Board. The structure is proposed to be constructed over 12 inches of wood
carpet. Wood carpet is an approved accessible surfacing material. The structure will be
surrounded by a handicap accessible boarder.
