Centerville community nights each year. The number of years an
agreement is made are negotiable.
2. The YMCA would like to offer a summer Day Camp program extended
hours site and bus pick -up location using LaMotte Park in Centerville.
We would like to have access to all k facilities including the w
Par uig arming
house from 6:30 — 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 — 6:00 p.m., Monday — Friday from
June 12 — August 18.
3. The YMCA would like to offer programs at LaMotte Park during the
summer. We see the potential to run morning and afternoon sessions, each
day for approximately eight (8) weeks during this summer. Again we
would need to have access to all park facilities including the warming
house from 9:30 — 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 — 3:00 p.m., Monday — Friday. We
would like to discuss with you the different program offerings that could
be offered.
Council Member Sweeney felt there should be some flexibility with the hours, adding we
need to consider the commitment the City already has with the Centennial Little League's
use of the ball fields.
Mr. Navin commented that this is a great opportunity to partner with the YMCA, noting
the residents of Centerville want more local activities. Mr. Navin felt it would be fine to
grant permission to the YMCA, with the exception that they must be out by 5:00 p.m. so
the Little League can get onto the ball fields.
Trail Map Update
The Park and Recreation Committee didn't quite understand or agree with the rough draft
trail map submitted by Paul Palzer. Ms. Lien was requested to create three (3) separate
maps indicating the following: existing trails, possible future trails and easements. Ms.
Lien will work on the three (3) maps and re- submit at the April meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
Lighting from Rich DeFoe (Waterworks Beach Club)
Mr. Navin explained that he has been in contact with Rich DeFoe of Waterworks Beach
Club. Mr. DeFoe is donating the lights from the ball fields to the City with one
stipulation. Mr. DeFoe requests the lights be used for youth ball fields. The question of
the Park and Recreation Committee is where to place the lights. Do the lights get
installed at the ball fields or the soccer fields at LaMotte Park. There isn't enough lights
for both. Mr. Navin would like to find out the expense of ..:,Ln of the lights, then
contact Pat Mahr of the Centennial Little League and Dave olan ) the soccer club to
see if either would be willing to pay for the installation.
Mr. Porter, Council Member Sweeney and Tedd Peterson felt lighting the ball fields
would bring more tournaments and money o the City.
.
