skate parks, Ms. Lien shared that all of the communities polled strongly recommended skate parks. Ms. Lien submitted information relating to each City polled and information from True Ride — Skate Park Design and Construction. Although most of the cities polled didn't offer bike tracks, Ms. Lien wanted to provide as much information as possible relating to what Shoreview offers and any suggestions they may have. After discussion, the Parks and Recreation Committee elected to gather additional information relating to bike tracks. Ms. DeVine offered to take on this project. Class Five Temporary Road to LaMotte Drive Ms. Lien explained that a temporary road has been constructed from Centerville Road, through Laurie LaMotte Park to LaMotte Drive for the contractors building the new lift station. The contractors were granted an overweight permit — contingent upon a $15,000 escrow, for repairs to the road if needed after completion. Since the road is in such a bad condition to begin with, the contractor didn't feel comfortable leaving a $15,000 escrow for repairs on a badly worn road. The contractor asked if he could build a temporary road for the time it takes to complete the lift station, and then remove the road when complete. Vendors at the Fete des Lacs Festival will also use this temporary road. Mr. Navin explained that Anoka County did not want any access to the park from Centerville Road, adding they would not allow traffic to enter or exit from Centerville Road. Mr. LeBlanc expressed his concern that this issue should have been brought before the Parks and Recreation Committee before any decisions were made. Mr. LeBlanc requests that in the future, these types of issues come before the Parks and Recreation Committee before any decisions are made by Council. DISCUSSION ITEMS On -Site Sanitation Invoice Ms. Lien explained that Ms. Bender (Clerk/Treasurer) wanted the Parks and Recreation Committee to approve the invoice for the sanitation units so she may issue the payment to them. Goetz Landscape Survey Ms. Lien explained she received a survey from Goetz Landscape regarding their work around the three (3) park signs. Ms. DeVine offered to fill out and send the survey back to Goetz Landscape. Plaque for Steve Brown Mr. Navin felt it would be appropriate to order a plaque for Mr. Brown thanking him for his years of service and dedication on the Parks and Recreation Committee. Motion by Mr. Navin, seconded by Mr. Porter to direct staff to order a plaque for Mr. Brown, not to exceed $50, and a Centerville Polo Shirt. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. 7
