Jim March
From: Jim March (march ©goldengate.net]
Sent: Friday, January 07, 2000 10:29 AM
To: Wayne LeBlanc; Tom Peterson; Theresa Brenner, Ray Devine; Jim Hoeft; Terry Sweeney; Mari
Nelson; Dick Travis; Linda Broussard Vickers
Subject: Week In Review 1/07/2000
Week in Review
January 7, 2000
Building Permits this Period = 2
Building Permits YTD = 2
New Homes Year to Date = 1
* If you watched the news last night, you heard about Socrates Babacus' plans to build a
retractable roof stadium in Lino Lakes east of 20th Avenue. At this point, I would say do
not lose any sleep over this proposal. Too many items do not add up.
* I attended the Planning and Zoning meeting on Tuesday evening. The main agenda
topic was the public hearing that was scheduled for the property north of City Hall. One
person was in attendance at the hearing to express his opposition to having the property
rezoned to commercial.
* I attended the Park and Recreation meeting on Wednesday evening. The committee is
continuing to make progress on their park goals for 2000. The park and recreation
committee is interested in resubmitting an application for the Outdoor Recreation Grant
program. The application would include improvements to LaMotte and Royal Meadows
Park. I will be attending an informational grant seminar sponsored by the DNR next week
Tuesday.
* The City has received this year's antenna lease payments from both companies that
lease space on the watertower.
* I attended the cable operating committee meeting on Tuesday. Legal counsel was
present to discuss legislative efforts to eliminate municipal franchise fees that fund local
cable programming. Cities are mobilizing to fight the legislation that these select
legislator's are proposing. Senator Krentz has contacted the City and she plans to be
present at our January 26th Council meeting to hear about City legislative concems. This
will be one item that we will want to mention.
* Paul Palzer and Milo Bennett are meeting with the builder of the new Odyssey Lures
building this morning. They are going to be reviewing some fire code issues. They are on
track to build in the Industrial Park this spring.
* The first community skating night this century is scheduled for Sunday from 4 -6 P.M.
* I will be out of the office next week Thursday and Friday on an ice fishing excursion. City
1/7/00
