NOT APPROVED <br /> CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING <br /> JANUARY 5, 2000 <br /> 5:00 p.m. <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the City of Centerville held a <br /> special meeting at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. <br /> PRESENT: Mayor Tom Wilharber <br /> Council Member Mari Nelson <br /> Council Member Linda Broussard Vickers <br /> ABSENT: Council Member Dick Travis <br /> Council Member Terry Sweeney <br /> Staff members present: Jim March, City Administrator. <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Wilharber called the special meeting to order at 5:05 p.m <br /> City Administrator Jim March updated the Council on the resignation of City Clerk <br /> Diane Ward. Mr. March asked that a special meeting be held so that he could present <br /> options for filling the vacancy. <br /> One of the options presented was to advertise and replace the existing vacancy with a <br /> full -time employee. Another option presented was to promote an internal candidate to a <br /> revised Clerk/Treasurer position and increase the hours of the two part-time receptionists. <br /> In this option a part -time account clerk would also be hired to assist in performing <br /> accounting duties. <br /> Mr. March also presented a request from staff to reconsider hiring an outside firm to <br /> perform the task of minute taking. Mr. March was instructed to acquire additional cost <br /> estimates for this service. Council was supportive to further investigate restructuring the <br /> position to better meet the long -term needs of the organization. Mr. March will bring <br /> revised job descriptions to the second Council meeting in January. <br />
