PUBLIC HEARING (S)
Lloyd Drilling Re -Zone Request
Mr. Drilling explained to the Council he is interested in submitting a site plan that proposes a
retail/office type structure to be built on the property located at 1873 Main Street. The property is
currently zoned (R2) Single Family Residential. Mr. Drilling is requesting the property be
rezoned to (C1) Commercial. Mr. Drilling feels the development would be good for the City as a
whole. Mr. Drilling questioned the Council on their feelings toward the rezone /structure idea.
Jeff Turner of 7157 Peterson Trail was present. Mr. Turner questioned driveway placement on
Peterson Trail. Mr. Turner indicated he is not in favor of having additional traffic usage on
Peterson Trail. Mr. Drilling mentioned he needs access to his lot. Mr. Turner indicated he felt
Mr. Drilling's proposal was not fair.
Council Member Nelson asked about having an access on Peterson Trail and Shad Avenue.
Mr. Drilling indicated he would propose an access to the structure from Shad Avenue as well as
Peterson Trail and indicated he would maintain the access on Main Street. Council Member
Broussard Vickers thought an access on both roads was better for traffic flow.
Mayor Wilharber felt the rezone was a favorable idea. Council Members Nelson and Sweeney
agreed. Council Member Broussard Vickers felt that the concept fits into the "scheme of things ".
