RemininBalance of the Parks and Recreation Budet
Ms. Lien distributed an updated balance sheet provided by Ms. Bender indicating the
total assets, total eenditures and total funds/balance remaining in the Parks and
Recreation accounts. Mr. March elained the Capitol Improvement Projects, indicating
he would like the Parks and Recreation Committee to prioritize the list included and any
other projects they feel important. Mr. Mazch also erplained the increases in the
budgeted amounts. The Capitol Improvement Projects packet of information was for
informational purposes only at this time, with the exception of prioritizing. The final
budget is due in December.
The Parks and Recreation Committee elected to visit all of the parks in Centerville on
Saturday, October 28, 2000 at 8:30 a.m. to determine the goals of each park, and then to
have a workshop at City Hall to discuss the entire Parks and Recreation Budget for the
year 2001. The committee requested Ms. Lien notify the LeJournal and the Quad
Community Press.
Laurie LaMotte Park Lig
Mr. Peterson explained the light poles donated by Mr. DeFoe have all been relocated
except for one that is currently being used on Mr. DeFoe's property. In addition to the
donation of the light poles, Mr. DeFoe offered the scoreboard to the City. Mr. Peterson
mentioned that the actual cost of the relocation would be slightly bigher than previously
quoted due to the additional eense of relocating the scoreboard.
I
NEW BUSINESS
Letter from Bert Case r Rearding a Trail Between Ojibway Road and Heritage Street
Mr. Bert Casper (6979 Eagle Trail) e-mailed Mr. March requesting a trail be paved where
a path currently ests between the dead-end of Heritage Street (on the east side of
Centerville Road) and the curve on Ojibway Road. The consensus of the committee was
to write a letter to Mr. Casper thanking him for his interest in a possible trail and to notify
him that this will be discussed in the future.
Hunter's Crossing Bituminous Trail / Acorn Creek Park Trail
Mr. Tom Peterson (City Engineer) had sent a letter to Mr. Rick Carlson (Hunter's
Crossing developer) regarding the bituminous trails in both the Hunter's Crossing
Development and the trail around the playground equipment at Acorn Creek Pazk. In
addition, were bids from two (2) vendors for paving the trail around the pla.y structure,
and a map of the park indicating the proposed work. The lowest quote of $10,000 was
from Arcade Asphalt, a local contractor from Centerville. The second quote of $17,347
was from Northdale Construction (Hunter's Crossing contractor).
Motion by Mr. Walter, seconded by Ms. DeVine to recommend to City Council the
acceptance of the bid from Arcade Asphalt in the amount of $10,000 for paving the
trail at Acorn Creek Park as indicated. Al! in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
4
