� <br /> APPROVED <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION <br /> COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> September 6, 2000 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Parks and Recreation Committee of the City <br /> of Centerville held their regularly scheduled meeting on September 6, 2000 at City Hall, <br /> 1880 Main Street. Chairperson Doug Porter called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. <br /> Present: Chairperson Doug Porter <br /> Wayne LeBlanc <br /> Karla DeVine <br /> Tedd Peterson <br /> Brian Walter <br /> Terry Sweeney (Council Liaison) <br /> Absent: <br /> Staff: Jill Lien <br /> OATH (S) OF OFFICE <br /> Mr. Tedd Peterson and Mr. Brian Walter both recited the Oath of Oi�ce for the Parks and <br /> Recreation Committee. <br /> APPEARANCES <br /> Mr. Bill Bisek (Kellys Korner) appeared before the Parks and Recreation Committee to <br /> express his interests and concerns over the lack of organized activities for both the youth <br /> and adults in Centerville. Mr. Bisek mentioned that he was planning on appearing at the <br /> City Council meeting on September 13�', to present his proposal to Council. Mr. Bisek is <br /> proposing himself as the cities "recreational activity director". He would run a"scaled <br /> down" adult parks and recreational league that would offer softball, indoor volleyball, <br /> broomball, boot hockey, soccer, etc. In addition to adult activities, Mr. Bisek is willing <br /> to co-ordinate youth activities. Mr. Bisek stated the activities offered would be self- <br /> ' sufficient (i.e. pay as you play), which would cover any costs such as fees, umpires, <br /> gyrnnasium rental, etc. Mr. Bisek strongly suggested adding a fourth ball field and a <br /> concession stand at Laurie LaMotte Park. Through the charitable gambling offered at <br /> Kellys Korner, the Centerville Lions Club is receiving and will continue to receive a <br /> large amount of money on a regular basis, to be used for pazk improvements and <br /> development. Mr. Bisek's concern by proposing a fourth ball field is that it would have <br /> to go where the trail is currently located. The trail would need to be relocated slightly. <br /> Mr. Bisek also commented that if the City purchases additional property from the <br /> 1 <br />
