t
Family Skate Nig_ht
It was determined that Park and Recreation would have three Family Skate Night's; Sunday,
January 9 Sunday, January 23 and Sunday, February 6', 2000. The time would run from
4:00 — 6:00 p.m. The City will supply the popcorn and hot chocolate, providing the committee
gets someone to run the event, such as girl scouts, boy scouts etc. Whoever we get to run the
event, will he able to sell their own goods if they desire (girl scout cookies, etc).
Letter from Metroolitan Council
Metropolitan Council responded to the letter written by Mr. LeBlanc on behalf of the Park and
Recreation Committee. Basically, the letter referenced Mr. John VonDeLinde, Anoka County
Parks Director as our contact person regarding trail linkage.
NEW BUSINESS
Paxk Dedication Fees
Mr. March commented that he has surveyed several surrounding cities, and found that several of
the cities have raised their park dedication fees to $1,500 per lot. Mr. March recommended that
Park and Recreation raise their park dedication fee accordingly from $1,200 to $1,500.
Motion by Mr. Navin to recommend to Council to raise the park dedication fees from
$1,200 to $1,500 per lot for the year 2000. Seconded by Mr. Larson. All in favor. Motion
carried.
Waterworks
Mr. March explained that Mr. Rich DeFoe approached him and asked if the City would be i
interested in any of the equipment from his ba11 field such as lighting, fence, and/or backstops
(just the physical structures, not the land). Mr. DeFoe is building his home in that area and needs
to remove these things. Apparently he has already offered the diamond to the Little League.
Mr. March felt it would be prudent to have a feasibility study done to get appropriate trails and
easements.
Public Hearin at Plannin and Zoning Meeting
Mr. March stated that Mr. Drilling has purchased the property directly across the street from City
Ha11. Mr. Drilling wants to re-zone the property and demolish the house. Mr. March would like
the Park and Recreation Committee to consider and keep this in mind for future meetings.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Wavne LeBlanc Apearance/Requests at Past Council Meeting
Discussion was held regarding trails, parks, land, design team vision/follow-up throughout most
of the meeting already, so most of Mr. Leblanc's concerns/ideas had already been discussed.
Mr. LeBlanc expressed his opinions on the following items:
• Trails to surrounding communities
• Concerns sent to City Council
