Conservation Partners Grant Program ,�P�� � <br /> � 9 <br /> Information Sheet - 2001 Application Cycle � <br /> ��Ha� <br /> Program Purpose: To encourage the enhancement of fish, wildlife, <br /> and native plant habitats and research and surveys of fish and wildlife directly related to <br /> specific habitat improvement projects through cooperation by private organizations and <br /> local governments. <br /> Eligible Projects: Projects fall into two categories: 1. Habitat Enhancement � Habitat <br /> Enhancement projects include but are not Iimited to: restoration of natural plant <br /> communities; reforestation; protection of wetlands; establishing native plant buffer strips <br /> along streams and lakes; protection of water quality; abatement of soil erosion; and other <br /> practices consistent with sound wildlife management. 2. Reseazch/Surveys - <br /> Research/Survey projects include but are not limited to: monitoring environmental , <br /> indicators; surveying plant and animal populations; evaluating enhancement projects; and <br /> researching methods to conserve or enhance fish, wildlife and native plant habitat. These I <br /> reseazch/survey projects must be directly related to specific habitat improvement projects. <br /> Grant funds cannot be used to fund curricula, existing staff and program activities or <br /> capital development such as buildings and trails. <br /> � <br /> Who May Apply: Private organizations, counties, cities, townships, school districts, and I <br /> native American bands. I <br /> Priorities: Cooperative efforts among local governments, school districts, and private �, <br /> organizations and creative projects that meet the program purpose. Projects are selected <br /> based on regional priorities. ' <br /> Level of Assistance: A maximum of 50% of the total eligible project costs not to exceed <br /> a maximum grant of $20,000. The minimum grant amount is $1,000. Costs must be <br /> incurred and paid before reimbursement can be made. � <br /> General Information: Applications aze due by March 31, 2001. Grant awards will be <br /> announced in the summer.
