Now, the City of Centerville pays $187,000 per year for seventeen <br /> hours of coverage with 24 hour emergenc_y response. Mayor Wilharber explained the task force <br /> pIans to subtract past contributions made to the police department and implement a buy in on <br /> equipment of $45,Q00. This is a significant increase compared to the previous year's amount of <br /> approximately $100,000. The task force is aware of the city's growth and has anticipated an <br /> increase in coveratre. Ma Wilharber recommended the cit_y req_uire a police car be placed in <br /> Centerville full-tirne. <br /> Mayor Wilharber gave a synopsis of a funding formula that the cities have investigated. The <br /> formula is made up of the following: number of calls to each city, population, market valuation <br /> and combined miles of city roads. Mayor Wilharber clarified the task force plans to weight the <br /> criteria, thus determining each city's payment amount. Furthermore, Mayor Wilharber felt <br /> Centerville should not pay a portion of a11 police calls, since the city of Lexington had nearly one <br /> thousand more police calls than the other two cities. The Planning Commission <br /> viewed the site and building sketch plan during its 7une meeting. Area citizens showed up at the <br /> Planning meeting and stated they like the 250' b_y 120' building idea.
