Special Thanks to everyone who attended the Pre!imir,ary Meeting for th� Design Team (Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998)! Great ideas for a great start! Concerns Reqarding Centerville • Wifh growth, noise level is too high, especially along the main traveled roads through town. • Too many cars & too many psople already. • The unappeafing and "cluttered look" with the current downtown businesses. • Community pride • Poor water quafify of Lakes, especially with new developments. • Garbage from Waterworks in lakes and around shores. • Und�rage drinking at Waterworks. Waterworks & Main Str. too much a pofice "troubled area." • Current parks are too "tucked away", dark and not very inviting. , � Would Nev�r Like fo See !n Centerviile , • No n2w businesses in what is considered the current downtown area. �� • No new bars in Centerville. ', • No freeways through Centerviile. (14 or Main Str., grand plan for fufure highways can I be found at public library.) �� • No new duplexes or multiple-unit-housing complexes in Centerville (exciuding Senior Housing) ' • Never a(fow businesses on city's vacant land (Sorel Str. & Centerville Rd.) , Would Like To See Chancred fn Centerviffe • Move all businesses down east toward freeway area -- Ke�p all businesses in the same area, not peppered ti�roughout the town. • Create a new area for "Downtown" (i.e. - more fowards 35, 20th & Main) Turn current downtown area into residential area. • Clean up look of current - Centerville bus+nesses. Give them more of a quaint look. C�t rid of muftip(e buildings per business, especially those that are falling apart. • Restore buildings and homes in Centerviile to original c�ndition. • Get regulations or covenants for businesses & homes "in the books" so as to ensure consistent and constant esthetic appeal. • Take down oid public works bui(dings on Sorei Str. and move out of downtown area and closer to 20fh & 14.
