, Centerville Parks & Recreation Laurie Lamotte Park Presentation The purchase of 12.41 acres to enlarge Laurie Lamotte Park is a outstanding enhancement of the city. The acquisition allows the city to meet the growing n�eds of a health concious and environmentally aware population. We propose tonight an option/alternative that will give Centerville and ou� neighbors, immediate functional use of the newly enlarged park. To accomplish the proposal, partnerships between local government and community organizations will be solidified. Local government will have the opportunity to demonstrate an innovative approach in building on the capacity of our resources. Parks & Recreation seeks the endorsement of the following concepts: > The attached layout concept for Laurie Zamotte Park. ', The layout provides: ', * a total of four ballfields; this is an increase '� over today's two fields. ', * two, regulation size football/soccer fields. �, * enlargement, of the present day P�easure Rink. Enlarging the area allows the establishment of a regulation sized volley ball court. i * a basketbal7. court . �� * picnic areas for enhanced family experiences. '� * ample parking areas that reli.eve traffic �, pressure from Heritage Street/Lamotte Drive. �� * continued use of the existing hockey rink and �� warming house. > The two acre parcel of open space in the southeast portion of the city appears to be underutilized. We propose liquidating this resource. Using funds generated from the sale can then be applied to land preparation work on Laurie Lamotte Park based on the above described layout. Lacal entities have expressed an interest in the property; a possible moneyless exchange can occur.
