April.5te, 2001 � . ._ _ . <br /> Centerville Soccer Fields <br /> I attended the Centerville Park and Rec 1Vleeting on Wednesday Apri14�', a.ud discussed <br /> feedba.ck from our last year's soccer season rela.ted to the Laurie LaMotte Park SoGCer <br /> Fields. The Park and Rec committee was receptive to the feedback and is committed to <br /> making the Laurie LaMotte Park Soccer Fields a first class location for the Centennial <br /> Soccer Club to have gaxnes. <br /> The following improvements to the site were discussed. <br /> 1. They wi11 be loaking at ways to widen the larger of the two fields to a minimum <br /> of 50 yards wluch is the minimum allowed for a regulation size field. <br /> 2. The grounds grew will continue working on the quality of the grass. Last year <br /> was the first season and the grass quality was not where they want it to be long <br /> term. It may take another year to get it to acceptable levels for soccer. <br /> We will not be scheduling soccer games at Centerville for this summer. The fields will <br /> be available for pra.ctice from Spm until dark Monday through Friday for our club. We I <br /> will need to find a way to maintain a schedute of practices since Centerville doesn't ' <br /> maintain a schedule for the soccer fields like Lino Park and Rec does. <br /> Other notes on Soccer Fields <br /> ♦ With the late and wet Spring we will be keeping in close contact with Barry Bernstein <br /> from the Lino Parks and Rec on field conditions. We don't want tv start having I <br /> practices until the fields dry out or it may damage the grass for the whole seasan. <br /> ♦ The Centennial Middle School #5 field (the one inside the track) was going to be <br /> repaired this summer but the timing is being moved back to this Fall. We will be able <br /> to schedule games on the field this summer <br /> ♦ MYSA will be sending me the games to be scheduled on Apri112�'. I have 8 days to <br /> turn around the schedule to MYSA to have the games approved. I have not he�rd if <br /> Steve Gilbertson will be assigning refs for the games. I will need to know who to <br /> send the game schedule to for the refs to be assigned. Once the games are <br /> scheduled I will send them out on Email. I would also suggest posting the game <br /> schedule on the Web Site. Let me know whom I could work with to make that <br /> happ�n. <br /> Let's play Soccer! <br /> Jeff Johnson <br />
