Application requirements, such as due dates <br /> for complete applications, do vary. <br /> The total amount of funding that may be availabie for these programs is uncertain at this time. <br /> The Legistative Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCMR) has indicated that it will <br /> recommend funding for a number of these programs. This recommendation will be forwarded to <br /> the 2001 Legislature, which will decide whether to appropriate the funds. Congress has also <br /> taken action to restore some funding to the states for the federal Land and Water Conservation <br /> Fund. A final allocation figure for Minnesota should be available after the first of the year. Other <br /> federal funding is expected for the National Recreation Trail Program. The 2000 Legislature did <br /> appropriate $500,000 for a Regional Park Grant Program. See the enclosed fact sheet for more <br /> information on this new program. The 2000 Legislature also appropriated funds for the trail grant <br /> programs. <br /> If you are interested in applying for a grant; we recommend that you return the enclosed <br /> Application Request Form as early as possible. TMs wi11 allow adequate time for the DNR staff to �� <br /> discuss the project with you and provide you with the appropriate application materials. Lead � <br /> time may be required to meet application requirements, such as holding a public hearing, permit ' <br /> review, completion of appraisals, etc. , <br /> Also enclosed is information about the Minnesota Conservation Corps (MCC). We encourage <br /> Iocal governments to consider partnering with the MCC, particularly for projects receiving <br /> National Recreation Trail Funds. <br /> A series of public open houses on these grant programs will be held in various locations around <br /> the state in December.
