Mr. Navin will report back to the Park and Recreation Committee at the next meeting. <br /> LaMotte Park Seedin� and Backstops <br /> Tabled <br /> U pdate on Bud ¢et Balance of Park Dedication Fee Account, and Breakdown of 1999 Costs <br /> Mr. Larson stated that he and Paul Palzer (Public Works DirectorBuilding Officiai) drove around <br /> the City to look at and discuss the parks in Centerville. There are several issues that need to be <br /> taken into consideration. Mr. Larson would like to see the budget increased. <br /> I�Is. Lien suggested the Park and Recreation Committee establish an Enterprise Fund so that if <br /> there are funds left at the end of the year, they can be rolled over into the ne� year. As it <br /> cunently is, any funds left at the end of the year, are lost. Ms. Lien mentioned that the Park and <br /> Recreation Committee might want to consider adding a Park and Recreation Director or a part- <br /> time Park and Recreation person who can maintain and folIow-up with issues such as park <br /> maintenance, benches or picnic tables, rink attendants, and/or activities for the youth. If the <br /> committee anticipates any of these things, they will want to increase the budget to cover them all. <br /> Mr. Navin didn't feel the City is ready to promote youth activities through a Park and Recreation �, <br /> Director. It takes a lot of time and work organizing activities for children. Adding, the City ' <br /> needs the resources and the location to have these types of events. Lino Lakes offers many i <br /> opportunities for the youth, and it is very close by. <br /> Mr. Sweeney suggested some time in the future, the Park and Recreation Committee may want to I, <br /> consider hiring a Park and Recreation Director. I <br /> Motion by Mr. Larson to set up an Enterprise Fund in tt�e amount of $50,000 for the year <br /> 2000 budget. Motion seconded by Mr. Porter. All in favor. Motion carried. I <br /> N1r. Navin requested each member bring to the October meeting, their list of priorities for each <br /> park in Centerville to support the request for a$50,000 budget. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Brian Drive Trail Issue <br /> 1�Ir. John Green (7160 Brian Drive) presented a request to purchase a small piece of land <br /> (curre�tly a path) from the City that runs behind his house that he currentty maintains. Mr. Green <br /> would like to install a fence on the property to make it look nice and keep the flow of the existing <br /> feace going. Mr. Palzer indicated that currently the property is zoned as "Park Land", and <br /> pr��posed City Council physically look at the property before granting the request.
