February 24, 1999
Centerville Park and Recreation Committee
Michael Navin — Chairperson
1880 Main Street
Centerville, MN 55038
Dear Park and Recreation Committee,
Upon reading the Park and Recreation regular meeting minutes held on January 6th and February 3rd 1999,
we became aware that negotiations are underway concerning the contents of Acorn Creek Park located
between Acom Creek 2n Addition and the Woods of Clearwater Creek developments.
As homeowners whose property sanounds "Acorn Creek", we are concerned about the development of the
park, as well as what goes into the park. After reading the previously mentioned meeting minutes, we are
under the impression that the Park and Recreation Commiuee would like to see this area geared toward the
adults. We, as neighbors of the park, would prefer a park that would be geared towards children and adults
of all ages. We are also very concerned about safety, as well as complying with all the ADA requirements.
With respect to the residents that live in direct connection of the "Acorn Creek Park" area, we conducted a
small survey to attain a neighborhood consensus. The survey, as well as the results will be available at the
public hearing on March 3, 1999. Members of the Centerville Neighborhood Network completed the
surveying the week of February 20, 1999. Those residents who were not home at the time of the survey are
listed as Not Available for Comment.
We have also read and researched the Outdoor Recreation Grant the City of Centerville would be able to ;
use to aid in park project costs. This grant needs to be submitted before March 31, 1999. Given this I
opportunity, combined with teamwork, we feel that "Acorn Creek" could be a big success for our city. '
i,
As you can see, we are very concemed and are willing to volunteer our time and talent to "Acorn Creek".
We have formed a small neighborhood group, and feel we all bring something useful to the creation of the
pazk. Our group can be identified as the Centerville Neighborhood Network. Group members are as
follows: Aimee Fairbrother, Lori Dorn, Monica Travis, Molly Nelson, Sue Tschida, and Michele
Wrobeleski.
We look forward to seeing you at the public hearing in reference to this matter. If you have any questions
or concerns, please feel free to give any of a call.
 `
i
Sncerel , J t
.
