� <br /> � Outdoor Recreation Grant Program <br /> Information Sheet - 1999 Application Cycle <br /> Program purpose To increase and enhance outdoor recreation facilities. <br /> How it works Provides matching grants to local units of government for up to 50% of the acquisirion, <br /> development and/or redevelopment costs of local parks and recrearion areas. <br /> Eligible appiicant's Cities, counries and townships. <br /> Eligible projects Park acquisirion and/or development/redevelopment; includes, among others, trails, picnic <br /> shelters, playgrounds, athleric faciliries, boat accesses, fishing piers, swir*�m;ng beaches, <br /> campgrounds, and design and engineering (maxirnum of 10% of total project costs). Contact <br /> the Grants Manager with quesrions about other eligible facilities. <br /> Minimum Project proposals must include at least one eligible outdoor recreation facility and have a toal � <br /> requirements project cost of at least $10,000. I;and proposed for developmendredevelopment musT be <br /> owned by the applicant or be part of an acquisition project. Signifcant progress must be <br /> completed on active projects before an addirional proposal(s) can be submitted. <br /> Grant amount A max;m� af 50% of the total eligible project costs not to exceed a maximum grant amount <br /> of $50,000. The Legislative Commission of Minnesota Resources (LCMR) has recommended <br /> that the maximum grant amount be raised to $250,000. Applicarions will te accepted for total <br /> projects costs up to $500,000 with the understanding that if the grant limit is not raised, <br /> projects will need to be adjusted. Costs must be incurred and paid for before reimbursement <br /> can be made. Applicants are eligible to receive more than one grant. <br /> Loca1 match Applicants must provide at least 50% of the total project through non-state contributions of <br /> cash, materials, or in-kind services. <br /> Grant awards The Department of Natural Resources wi11 review and rank appticarioas auring the spring � <br /> of 1999. Grant awards will be announced in the summer of 1999. <br /> Project period Funded projects must begin promptly after an agreement has been cornpleted between the I <br /> State and the applicant. All components of the project must be compieted by December 31, <br /> 2001. <br /> To Appiy To receive an agplication, please submit an 9Dn icarion Req�es orm. We recommend that <br /> the Applicarion Request Form be submitted before January 31,1999.
