Act Grants - Marine sanitary waste pumpout program - <br /> Contact the Trails and Waterways Area Supervisor for more information. <br /> Prvgram Purpos�: These programs provide financial and technical assistance to local governments , <br /> to improve water recreation facilities including; public boat accesses, fishing <br /> piers, shore fishing, rivers recreation amenities and baat sewage pumpout5 to <br /> properly disposz of sanitary waste from boats. <br /> How it works: The DNR works with local units of governments and provides technical and <br /> financiai assistance to improve water recreation opportunities. Typicalfy ihe <br /> local unit of govemment owns the property and the DNR cooperates in the <br /> develoFment. <br /> E3igible ap�licants: Caunties, cities, and townships, For pumpout grants and <br /> bott� public and private marine facilities are eligible. <br /> E3igible Projects: Projects that improve access to public water. It includes acquisiiion, <br /> deve(opment and rehabilitation of water recreation faci(ities. Projects invoive <br /> site design and improvement, parking, boat ramps, landscape restoration, doc�s <br /> 2nd accessibility for peopl� with disabilities. Sttore fishing prajects +nclude pier <br /> installaiion and/or shoreline improvements. Pumpouts include new or upgraded <br /> pumpouts and dumpouts at boating facili#ies that are open to the public. <br /> Priarities: Prajects are selec;ed based on criteria which include but are not limited to the <br /> following: public demand, locations, present availability of f�cilities, game fis� <br /> present, size of water bady, accessability, and sponsor donation. <br /> Grant amoun : rant am <br /> t G ounts vary for access development and shore fishing projects. Fishing <br /> piers are up to $20,000 per project. Clean Vessei grants up to $t0,OQ0 per site. <br /> Local Matct�: Match amounts for accesses are negotiable based on present avai(ability and <br /> � need in the area. The level financial assistance fluctuates considerably <br /> depending on the project scope, sponsor's need and the ro ram's available <br /> P 9 <br /> bud ei. Piers are ranked statewide with th un m i <br /> g e amo t ot atch be ng one cr�ter�a <br /> for ranking.
