Then, at the May 12, 2010 City Council meeting, the
Council saw pricing on 3 different repair options. The Council was informed that the contractor
had offered to complete the lowest cost option ($960) with no participation from the City. This
option was a skin patch of the damaged areas.
The City Council determined that the skin patch option would not be acceptable and that they
would be pursuing the most costly of the 3 options; an overlay. A cost sharing proposal was
made which put 75% of the cost as the contractor's responsibility and 25% of the cost as the
City's share, with a portion of the City share potentially being assessed to the abutting property
owners. The total cost of the overlay is estimated at $17,000 meaning the proposal would have
the contractors share at $12,750 and the City share at $4,250.
After that meeting, this proposal was presented to the contractor. Subsequently, they have
reiterated, in an email, that their offer of $960 stands and could be used against the cost of the
overlay.
A resolution to this issue should be made soon. If there is to be an overlay completed, it would
be best to have it done in conjunction with the paving of the wear course on Peltier Lake Drive.
Sincerely,
BONESTR00
100 ' o'k
Mark Statz, PE
21
