Radios — I have serious reservations about depending on others for either routine or emergency communications. I am also motivated to keep the cost down. So I intend to go with a combination of rented radios and relying on the radio club. I want to use a radio club member at each water stop and at our situational command post (that would be where ever Officer Krueger and I happen to be). We could also use a radio club member with Michele Lakso (CERT Team leader). Mayor Capra asked Mr. Bob Cordell to attend a work session with council scheduled June 23, 2010. Chairperson Branch was unable to attend, but Vice - Chairperson Grahek was in attendance and will update the committee. From Centennial Fire: I got an email from the Centerville Parks Dept. and they want us to help out with the 8K run/walk again this year. We would assist with paramedics in case of an emergency.. They also asked if we will park an Engine at LaMotte Park after, along with some other sponsors, to promote fire safety They are expecting 250+ runners, walkers and spectators. The date is Aug. 7th from 7:30 to 10 and then after for a bit at LaMotte with an Engine. Chairperson Branch has had 500 fliers printed which he folded and distributed. August 2010 Agenda Items: Update from Chairperson Branch: I am willing to think seriously about adding the in -line event as well as adding a children's run. Starting in St Genevieve's parking lot and ending in LaMotte Park., avoiding all roads. I want to get kids oriented sponsor (CKA) to fund that activity and let kids 5 -10 run for free. Hopefully that will draw in their parents to do the longer run/walk. All of this is on hold for now. We may want to have a serious discussion about expanding the Festival of the Lakes event (s) at our August meeting. MDRA wanted a commitment for an ad and event calendar in early August last year. So for August we will have two decisions for P &R to make: 1) What date should we lock in? 2) Should we add an in -line skating event? 3) Should we add a kid's fun 1K fun run?
