RES. #10 -a7 <br /> A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ELECTIONS JUDGES FOR THE UPCOMING PRIMARY & <br /> GENERAL ELECTIONS (August 10, 2010 & November 4, 2010) AND INTERIM DEPUTY CLERK <br /> FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACCEPTING AFFIDAVITS OF CANDIDACY <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 204B.21, subd. 2, the City Council of the City of Centerville <br /> must select and appoint election judges for the upcoming Primary (August 10, 2010) and General (November 2, <br /> 2010) elections; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Clerk has advertised for individuals interested in serving in the capacity of election judge, <br /> contacted individuals provided by the County through lists from both the Republican and Democratic parties, <br /> utilized previously appointed judges or a combination of all to compile the list below of those that Council will <br /> consider appointing; and <br /> WHEREAS, all of the listed individuals are required to receive training either in the capacity of head judge (3 <br /> hours) or election judge (2 hours) as required by Minnesota State Statute 204B.25 and if any of the individuals <br /> listed below are not trained, the Election Administrator/Head Judge has the duty and responsibility to not allow <br /> that individual to serve in the capacity of head judge or election judge; and <br /> Sharon Anderson Janis Hackman Kris Sweeney (Alt. Elec. Admin./Head Judge) <br /> Marcia Bartels Eric Larson Shirley Sundquist (Head Judge) <br /> Teresa Bender (Elec. Admin./Head Judge) Kristina Porter Mary Ann Thill <br /> Joyce Gruber Irene Seashore <br /> Cliff Kath Suzanne Seeley <br /> Norma Essex Dan Skoog <br /> WHEREAS, it is proposed that the Council of the City of Centerville appoint Ms. Kris Sweeney as Deputy <br /> Clerk for the purpose of conducting the primary and general election for 2010; and <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> CENTERVILLE, MINNESOTA: <br /> 1. Authorizes the Election Administrator/Head Judge to deny an individual the opportunity to <br /> serve as a Head Judge or Election Judge due to failure to receive proper training per <br /> Minnesota State Statute 204B.25. <br /> 2. Appoints the above stated individuals for the primary and general elections to serve in the <br /> capacity of head judge or election judges if trained according to Minnesota State Statute <br /> 204B.25 with the assignments and schedule subject to the discretion of the City Clerk or <br /> designee. <br /> 3. Appoints Ms. Kris Sweeney as Deputy Clerk for the purposed of conducting the primary and <br /> general election for 2010. <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council this 14th day of July, 2010. <br /> Attest <br /> • <br /> City Clerk Mayor I <br />
