BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />Anoka County, Minnesota <br />DATE: July 13, 2010 RESOLUTION #}2010 -90 <br />OFFERED BY COMMISSIONER: Sivarajah <br />RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS <br />FOR ARCHERY DEER HUNTING IN DESIGNATED AREAS <br />OF RICE CREEK CHAIN OF LAKES PARK RESERVE <br />WHEREAS, the Anoka County Board of Commissioners has determined that the deer population <br />in Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve is in excess of a sustainable deer herd; and, <br />WHEREAS, based on aerial survey indices and other deer management tools, Anoka County has <br />determined the deer population density to be greater than 25 deer per square mile in Rice Creek Chain of <br />Lakes Park Reserve; and, <br />WHEREAS, an excess deer population creates a danger to users of roads and highways within <br />the park and adjoining properties; and, <br />WHEREAS, the management goal of the Parks and Recreation Department is to sustain a deer <br />population density of 15 to 20 deer per square mile at Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners <br />hereby authorizes the Director of Parks and Recreation to issue up to 75 permits for archery deer hunting <br />by state licensed hunters possessing a valid 2010 Anoka County Archery Deer Hunting Permit in <br />designated areas at the park. The permits shall be effective from October 23, 2010 through December <br />31, 2010, with certain restrictions. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />request that the Parks and Recreation Department conduct an analysis of the effect of the archery hunt on <br />the deer population and that the analysis be conducted after the permit sunset date and before the 2011 <br />deer hunting season for consideration by the county board. <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the cities of Blaine, Lino Lakes, Circle Pines, and Centerville <br />be notified of the passage of this resolution and be provided a copy of it. <br />STATE OFMINNESOTA) <br />COUNTYOFANOKA ) SS YES NO <br />I, Terry L.
