TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council Members
FROM: Kim Stephan
DATE: August 5, 2010
SUBJECT: Movie in the Park— Saturday, September 18, 2010
The following excerpt is from the August 4, 2010 Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes
regarding Movie in the Park:
Committee Member Peterson has been researching the rental of movies and equipment, as well as spaces
available (park, school, church) to offer the community a FREE Family Movie in the Park Night. The
idea has been to offer an outside viewing of a movie at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park, with a back up
weather plan of St. Genevieve's Parish Center. The elementary school is also an option. Committee
Member Peterson has tentative approval from the church and school.
The committee was supplied with movie lists in the form of links to Modern Sound Pictures Inc. and
Swank Catalog Online prior to the August meeting for review suggesting it would be beneficial to make a
movie selection at the August meeting as the September meeting may not be enough time to get a
reservation into the vendor.
Modem Sound Pictures Inc. has the prices listed online starting at $75 and charges $18 for shipping each
way; they have the smallest selection, but are more reasonably priced. Swank charges $250 -$350 per
movie. Disney movies are $350. The newer the movie, the more expensive. Equipment; including
speakers, cables and projector can be rented for approximately $150 if the equipment is picked up
opposed to delivered. Rentals are for a 5 day period. The low end projector is adequate for the
committee's purpose. The committee left the choice of the movie up to Committee Member Peterson and
Committee Member Selander as they have small children.
At the July meeting the committee selected Saturday, September 18, 2010 for a movie showing at 7:00
p.m. The committee will also offer free popcorn.
Motion was made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Amundsen to
request City Council approve funds from Park Programs not to exceed $400 for the Movie in the
Park Night to be held at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 7:00
p.m. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
19
Y
4
4
TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council Members
FROM: Kim Stephan
DATE: August 5, 2010
SUBJECT: Movie in the Park— Saturday, September 18, 2010
The following excerpt is from the August 4, 2010 Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes
regarding Movie in the Park:
Committee Member Peterson has been researching the rental of movies and equipment, as well as spaces
available (park, school, church) to offer the community a FREE Family Movie in the Park Night.
