1.Proposed Language- Amendment to City Code, Chapter 90, to allow Beekeeping.
The Commission reviewed text of proposed changes to Chapter 90 to allow keeping of
honeybees in residential areas of the city. The City attorney had made some modifications
to the proposed text which were presented at the meeting.
Commissioner Lee arrived during the discussion of this item.
Centerville Resident, Terry Johnson requested additional language to allow more bee
colonies on larger lots and to allow other methods of training. Consensus of the
Commission was to retain the simplicity of the language as proposed with the
understanding that the rules could be modified later if no problems are encountered with
beekeeping as regulated by the proposed text.
Motion by Commissioner Montain, seconded by Commissioner Lee to recommend
that the City Council adopt the amendments as drafted by the City Attorney. All in
favor. Motion carried unanimously.

V.DISCUSSION ITEMS
Dallas Larson reported that the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust insures the
City for among other things, land use liability. This coverage would defend the City
against claims of improper handling of zoning requests such as rezoning, variances and
conditional uses. The insurance has a very high deductible which can be reduced if
members of the Council and Planning & Zoning Commission take on-line training offered
by the League. All present agreed to take the training. Staff will register them for training
and then forward instructions.
VI. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Motion by Commissioner Lee, seconded by Commissioner Montain to approve
