To all who are in the City of Centerville Government. I am starting the process of working to change an ordinance in the City of Centerville to allow Chickens as pets. Currently Chickens are listed as Farm animals in Centerville. I look forward to educating anyone if they have a question regarding the keeping or owning of hens. I have kept 4 hens before in Centerville for 2 years. They are easy to own. Dogs are more work. Washing your dishes is more work than keeping 4 -6 hens. You can do the daily feeding and cleaning in under 10 minutes. I have a bad back so when I say its not difficult its not. Of course the owning of hens would be a personal choice. Just as me not owning a cat, or a cat person not owning a dog. Some people have no time for any pet and look at pets as work only. I am looking to get the City of Centerville to allow Hens. Hens are quiet and not loud. Lawn mowers, Trimmers, Motor cycles, Kids, Dogs, Airplanes, Birds in the trees and Crows are much louder. They sleep the whole night through and make zero sounds at night. I am for the keeping of no roosters because they are vocal. I am for keeping Chickens contained in your yard. I am for growing your own food as best you can. Some cities that allow Chicken here in MN are Roseville, Oakdale, Cottage Grove, West St. Paul, St. Paul, Montrose, Anoka, Ramsey, Otsego, Maplewood, Dayton, Andover, Fridley, Duluth, Minnetonka, Maple Grove, Vadnais Heights, New Brighton, Burnsville, Richfield, Saint Paul Park, Newport, Bloomington, Robbinsdale, Shoreview, and Stillwater. Center Mart — Request for Conditional Use Permit, 1801 & 1825 Main Street, U -Haul Rental Business Mr. Chad Buechler, Manager, Center Mart, was present to review his request. Mr. Buechler explained that he desired to clarify the original documentation submitted, Conditional Use Permit Request and aerial photo to properly reflect his request of operating a U -Haul Rental Business on the vacant parcel 1825 Main Street. Mr. Buechler stated that the owners of both 1801 & 1825 Main Street, Mr. Terry Johnson & Mr. Kevin Page 1 of 2 City of Centerville Planning and Zoning Commission November 13, 2012 Buechler, would like to be able to store eight trucks, four kayaks and one pontoon on the site at any given time. Lengthy discussion was had regarding the requirements for operating such a business under a Conditional Use Permit, the necessity of a dust free surface and whether grass fit that definition, parking requirements, outside storage, a parking lot, not building on the parcel, Rice Creek Watershed approval, and whether All Season Rental, 7129 — 20 Avenue North had been granted a Conditional Use Permit to operate. Consensus of the Commission was to schedule a public hearing for December 14, 2012 to consider public input subject to Mr. Buechler's payment of the appropriate fees associated with the processing of the submitted application. Motion by Commissioner Larson, seconded by Commissioner Koski to the schedule a public hearing on the proposed Conditional Use Permit Application for December 4, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. All in favor.
