Park and Recreation Committee Members:
I am Robbie Bacon. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 232 from Lino Lakes, Minnesota. I have
lived in Centerville my entire life and am a junior at Centennial High School. I am
interested in earning my Eagle Rank and part of this would be to complete an Eagle
Scout Project that benefits an organization or community.
The trees in Eagle Park were originally planted as part of a tree farm, the trees have
been planted too close together for the forest to be sustainable. I have contacted
Centennial Fire Chief, Jerry Streich, and I believe that his opinion might be that the
closeness of the trees might pose a fire hazard.
I am interested in conserving the trees in Eagle Park and making the park and its forest
a better community space. I believe that this conservation project would be an
acceptable Eagle Project to the Boy Scouts of America as it would benefit the City of
Centerville by improving the lifespan of the trees and lessening any potential fire
hazard, thus improving the quality of the park space.
I have contacted the DNR and they provided me with the name of our local DNR
forester. His name is Art Widerstrom and he has expressed interest in helping me with
my project. I have attached a copy of Mr. Widerstrom's e-mail. Currently, my plan is to
work with Mr. Widerstrom to identify the trees that should be removed. I understand
that there is an active homeowners association in the Eagle Park neighborhood. I plan
to work closely with the HOA and the City of Centerville to complete this project.
I have attached photos of Eagle Park documenting the thickness of the trees. I hope
that you will consider this project and grant your approval. Please feel free to contact
me with any questions.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Subject: Boy Scout in need of forester
Hi, my name is Robbie Bacon and I am a boy scout in troop 232 of Lino Lakes, MN. I am working towards the rank of
Eagle Scout and I need to complete an Eagle Scout Project. I am looking into doing a project which involves thinning out
the trees in Eagle Park of Centerville, MN. I would like to work with a forester to help decide which trees should be
removed. Could you recommend a forester to work with me? If you know of a forester who would be interested in
helping me please have him /her contact me at baconville @q.com or call (651) 429 -5199.
Thank you.
