VI. UPDATES
1. Council Updates - see Committee Business item #1.
2. Music-In-The-Parks/Jam Update. Last night was the first of the 2014 season.
There was a fair turnout. However, the Committee needs to continue to work
on publicizing the concerts.
3. Anoka County Chain of Lakes - Bald Eagle Regional Trail Master Plan:
Committee Member Bettinger distributed an update master plan via e-mail this
afternoon. The trail location has been changed to transit through Lino Lakes
park land know as Birch Park. There will be a second public meeting at Wargo
Nature Center June 24, 2014.
4. Flag Football Tournament Saturday May 31 was cut short by heavy rains in
mid-afternoon. The tournament organizer and the three team captains agreed
not to continue the tournament. There is a second tournament on the schedule
for August 9-10. The event organizers will need to submit a special use permit
for that event.
5. Basketball Hoops: Committee Member Peterson present three options of
basketball standards that could be used. No firm decisions were made, however
the committee is in general agreement that to have a safe basketball court on the
hockey rink will require the most robust standard available.
VII ACTION ITEM REVIEW
No new action items were added. The Committee agreed to close the following
action items: 14- 014 NHS Volunteers Thank You Letter, 14-015 Permits
Regarding Action Item 14-016 Park Use Application forms - Uniformity. The
Committee continues to believe the Special Permit and Park Usage forms are confusing as
to which form applies to any given activity. The Park Usage form was put in place to give
the public a simplified form instead of the long complexity of the special use form. Those
two permit forms should be contained in the same chapter of the City Ordinance and at the
form should be a clear set of instructions for selecting the right form.
