SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Monday, December 29, 2014
6:00 p.m.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled
meeting of December 29, 2014 at City Hall, 1880 Main Street.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Wilharber called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

IV. OLD BUSINESS
1. Onboarding Exercise – Dr. Richard Fursman, Brimeyer/Fursman
Dr. Fursman provided an Onboarding Survey Report to the Council and reviewed Council and
Staff responses to the survey questions with the city council and Administrator Ericson. He
shared the results and his perspectives with council who asked many good questions. The
session was a great opportunity for council to share its preferred communication style and to
align the administrator’s duties to the goals of the council. The session was temporarily recessed
so council could listen to Lou Suski from Gaughn Companies who updated council on the sale of
the former public works site to Alex’s Landscaping.
Richard completed the session after the new business item was addressed and stated that he
would also meet with staff to review their responses as well. Council agreed the exercise was
helpful for them to provide clear expectations to the city administrator.

1. Res. #14-040 – Authorizing Conveying/Selling Solely Owned Municipal Property (7087

– 20 Avenue South – PIN #R23-31-22-14-0076, Lot 1, Block 1, Tower Addition) to Mr.
Alex Shuda of Alex’s Turf/Landscaping
City Administrator Ericson stated that Mr. Shuda desired to close on the purchase of the property
prior to year’s end and that the city attorney advised staff that attached resolution would allow
the city to formally sell the land and building to Mr. Shuda. The city attorney noted that Mr.
Shuda is willing to grant the City a permanent easement of 30’ southerly of the eastern boundary
of Lot 1 to the eastern boundary of Lot 2, Tower Addition for water tower access and
maintenance as per the agreement included in the packet. Lou Suski addressed the council and
answered questions.
Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member Paar, to Adopt
Res. #14-040 – Authorizing Conveying/Selling Solely Owned Municipal Property (7087 –

20 Avenue South – PIN #R23-31-22-14-0076, Lot 1, Block 1, Tower Addition) to Mr. Alex
Shuda of Alex’s Turf/Landscaping as presented. All in favor. Motion passed.

Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Love to adjourn the
Special Council Meeting of December 29, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. All in favor. Motion passed.
