CITY OF CENTERVILLE
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning Commission held its regular
meeting on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.

I. CALL TO ORDER.
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairperson
Mosher.

IV. OLD BUSINESS
1. Proposed Parking Design – Centennial School District #12 (Centerville Elementary)
Administrator Ericson gave a brief update of meetings with two members of the School Board
(Chair & Vice Chair), Mayor Wilharber, Council Member Fehrenbacher, Business Manager Dan
Hoffman & Superintendent Dietz where the school shared their vision for enlargement of the
parking lot for student/staff safety. The City shared their vision of the Downtown Redevelopment
Plan and the need for parking in the downtown area for (festival, farmer’s market, public events,
etc.).
The Commission had lengthy discussion on the proposed parking design and the City’s Downtown
Master Plan.

a. 1709 Main Street – Condemnation Proceedings
Administrator Ericson stated that the School District has commenced eminent domain proceedings
to acquire the property. The Commission had a discussion on whether the City should participate
in the purchase of the property as a partner with ISD #12.
2. MN DNR Water Supply Planning & Conservation Meeting on November 24, 2015
Administrator Ericson gave a brief overview of the meeting stating this was the third meting
requested by the judge after the lawsuit was filed. Discussion by the Commission included water
supply plans and water conservation goals of a 17% reduction.
V. NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussion on Metropolitan Council System Statement
The Commission reviewed the statement and requested that the document be available in
Dropbox. The City Clerk completed this work. Administrator Ericson stated that the Commission
would be using the system statement as a guide for updating the City’s Comprehensive Plan by
2018.
VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS
1. 2016 Fete des Lacs Festival Committee
Administrator Ericson gave a brief overview of the most recent meeting stating that another
meeting was scheduled for January 25, 2016. He stated that he would keep the Commission
updated on the Committee’s work.
VII. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
1.December 1, 2015 Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting Minutes
Motion by Commissioner Koski seconded by Commissioner Montain to approve minutes
from the December 1, 2015, meeting as presented. All in favor. Motion carried.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Commissioner Koski, seconded by Commissioner Mosher to adjourn the meeting
at 7:30 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried.
