Summary of Work Session
Present were Mayor Mary Capra, Council members Michelle Lakso, Richard Terway,
Jeff Paar and Tom Lee. Also present was Dallas Larson and Rhonda Sivarajah.
1.The Council discussed the status of the CSAH 14 project and the downtown
streetscape improvements that would be part of the project. The City engineer is
working on the plan sheets that would be included in the county bid documents.

Dallas reviewed the status of the 21 Avenue-Backage Road project as it related to
CSAH 14.
2.County Commissioner Sivarajah discussed the status of the city’s application for
Community Development Block Grant funds to assist with the downtown
redevelopment. Board Chair Margaret Langfeld has used her authority to make
sure the city will not be included in the grant awards. All of the funds that were
recommended by staff to be awarded to Centerville are being reallocated to other
communities. The Council requested that Commissioner Sivarajah make a
statement at the next County Board meeting to bring to light the clearly punitive
action that has been initiated by Langfeld and participated in by other Board
members. She will make a motion to restore the funding, although everyone agreed
it likely will do no good.
