It is currently zoned M-1. The house could not safely be used for a live burn exercise given the close proximity of significant power lines that cannot be moved. This is similar to the home on Centerville road, one block over, however that home did not have significant power lines close to it. Question Before the Council: Does the Council wish to give the CFD permission to use the house for other training exercises including breaching walls, doors, etc? This damage would not be repaired by CFD. A public meeting will be held for the Peltier Lake Drawdown project. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 5:00pm at Wargo Nature Center (7701 Main Street, Lino Lakes, MN). Details of the proposed project will be presented by the Rice Creek Watershed District; public comments will be welcome. The goals of the proposed project are to manage invasive plants and improve water clarity on Peltier Lake. A drawdown was attempted on Peltier Lake during the fall and early winter of 2016. Unfortunately, due to record -high precipitation, water level drawdown was not possible. We are proposing to conduct the exact process again in 2017. We propose to begin the drawdown in mid-September. Assuming typical precipitation levels, we hope to achieve the target drawdown level of approximately 2.5 feet in mid-November. Water levels will be held at the drawdown level until ice -out in spring. At that time, we anticipate lake levels to return to normal within a week. This notice, as well as the Public Meeting, are required by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to obtain a permit to conduct the drawdown. Unlike last year, landowner signatures will not be required to obtain the permit. Contact the Rice Creek Watershed District (763-398-3070, mkocian@ricecreek.org) with any questions.
