PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville's Parks & Recreation Committee
held a scheduled meeting on October 10, 2018 at City Hall, 1800 Main Street.
Present: Committee Member Kevin Amundsen
Committee Member Chris Bettinger
Committee Member Heidi Erickksen-Grahek 0
Committee Member Brian Peterson
Committee Member Suzanne Seeley
Also Present:
Absent: Committee Member/Chair: Kevin Waeghe
Matt Montain, Council Member Liaison
Mark Statz, City Administrator/Engineer
1. CALL TO ORDER
Committee Member Amundsen called the October 10, 2018 Meeting of the Parks &
Recreation Committee to order at 6:35 p.m. in the City Administrative offices.
Il. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion made by Committee Member Erickksen-Grahek, seconded by Committee
Member Seeley to approve the Agenda as presented. All in favor. Motion carried
III. APPEARANCES/APPOINTMENTS/PRESENTATIONS
NONE
IV. UNFINISHED COMMITTEE BUSINESS
1. Ultra-Lite Aircraft Regulations
2. Electric-Assisted Bike/Scooter regulations
Motion made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member
Seeley to indefinitely table any further discussion and/or to recommend to the City
Council any action to be taken at this time, regarding regulations of Ultra-Light
Aircraft and Electric-Assisted Bikes/Scooters, and to address any issues regarding
them until such time as action may need to be taken. All in favor. Motion carried.
V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS (NEW)

1. Skate Nights for January & February, 2019 & Hayride for February, 2019
The first Skate Night will be scheduled for Saturday, January 19th from 6:00 pm
to 9:00 pm.
The second Skate Night will be scheduled for Saturday, Februar� 9th from 6:00pm
to 9:00 pm. The Hayride will also be scheduled for February 9' from 6:30 pm to
8:30 pm. Staff will obtain the contract from the Bunker Hills Stable.
Volunteers are to meet by 5:00 pm on both dates to prepare refreshments & music
set up.
IV. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
Motion by Committee Member Erickksen-Grahek, seconded by Committee
Member Peterson to approve the Minutes of the September 5, 2018 regular meeting
as written. All in favor. Motion carried.
VII. UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. Council Update—Council Member Montain
Mr. Montain was unavailable to the P & R Committee as his attendance was
needed at the City Council meeting.
2. Movie in the Park—Committee Member Peterson
This activity was held on Saturday, September 22nd in Laurie Lamotte Park at
dusk. The movie (Peter Rabbit) rental was $435.00 with the projector rental
(with 5000 lumens) at $175 and miscellaneous expenses at $34.00. The turnout
was down a bit this year. There was discussion about doing additional advanced
advertising.
3. P & R Vacancy
The city is currently accepting applications for the position.

NOTE—Committee Members would like to develop P & R Event booklets that can be used
as a record of details, cost, feedback& suggestions, including timelines to follow, etc.

Motion made by Committee Member Erikksen-Grahek, seconded by Committee
Member Seeley to adiourn the meeting of October 10, 2018 at 7:22 p.m. All in favor.
