ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
MEETING MINUTES
January 15, 2020
6:30 p.m.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville’s Economic Development Authority
held a regularly scheduled Meeting on January 21, 2020 at 6:30 p.m.
I. CALL TO ORDER

PRESENT: President Jeff Hanzal
Treasurer Michael Giovinazzo
Council Member D. Love
ABSENT: Mayor Jeff Paar
Vice-President Jim Weatherhead
STAFF: City Administrator, EDA Executive Director Mark Statz
III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
1. Call for Changes to the Agenda
President Hanzal asked if anyone had requests for changes to the agenda. Executive Director Statz
asked to have the Quad Area Chamber of Commerce Dues added to the list of Bills in item V.1.,
as item “d.”
Motion by Commission Member Giovinazzo, seconded by Commission Member Love to
approve the agenda with changes. All in favor. Motion carried.
IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. December 15, 2019 Meeting Minutes
President Hanzal asked if anyone had changes to the minutes.
Motion by Commission Member Love, seconded by Commission Member Hanzal to approve
the Minutes of the December 15, 2019 meeting as presented. All in favor. Motion carried.
V. BILLS AND COMMUNICATIONS

EDA Meeting Minutes

1. Bills
a. Northland Securities
b. Anoka County Regional Economic Development
c. Payroll
The commission asked Executive Director Statz to review Norrhland’s billings to determine
whether or not they have exceeded their initial proposal amount. If so, the remaining billings,
should be left at the City Council for payment.
Motion by Commission Member Giovinazzo, seconded by Commission Member Love to
transfer these bills to the EDA. All in favor. Motion carried.
d. Chamber dues $150 Jeff Hanzal/Michael Giovinazzo
Item “d” was handled separately. Executive Director Statz explained that his membership in the
Quad Area Chamber of Commerce should be handled through the EDA, based on guidance from
the League of MN Cities.
Motion by Commission Member Hanzal, seconded by Commission Member Giovinnazo to
transfer this bill to the EDA. All in favor. Motion carried.
Executive Director Statz stated that the city’s finance staff is working on separating the EDA’s
checking account from the city’s.
VI. REPORTS
1. Administrator’s Report
Administrator Statz fielded questions on his written report.
VII. OLD BUSINESS
1. Promotional Video
The draft of the video was reviewed and comments were taken from the commission as well as
those submitted by absent commission member Weatherhead. Those comments will be passed
on to the video producer for a final version.
No formal action taken.
2. Strategic Plan Discussion
The draft of the presentation on the strategic plan was reviewed and comments were taken from
the commission as well as those submitted by absent commission member Weatherhead. Those
comments will be incorporated prior to the City Council Meeting.

No formal action taken.
3. 2020 Appointments
All appointments were confirmed to stay as is.
Motion by Commission Member Love, seconded by Commission Giovinazzo to adopt
Resolution EDA20-01 Selecting Officers for 2020. All in favor. Motion carried.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
1. None
IX. ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Commission Member Hanzal, seconded by Commission Member Giovinazzo to
Adjourn the EDA meeting at 7:40 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried.
