CITY OF CENTERVILLE
PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville’s Parks & Recreation Committee
held their Regularly Scheduled Meeting on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in Council
Chambers at the Centerville City Hall.
Mr. Devin Grahek provided showed the P & R committee meeting members where the Disc Golf
course will be.
REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Heidi Errickson-Grahek called the Regularly Scheduled Meeting of the Parks &
Recreation Committee to order on June 4, 2025, at 7:20 p.m.
1. ROLL CALL

Committee Member Deanna Loomis
Committee Member Brian Peterson
Committee Member Katya Port
Absent: Committee Member Ashley Fuchs
Also Present: City Clerk, Ms. Teresa Bender
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that Committee Member Peterson requested the use of
Hidden Spring Park on June 26, 2025, for a Scouts event.
Motion by Committee Member Brian Peterson seconded by Committee Member Errickson-
Grahek to approve the Set Agenda as amended. All in favor. Motion carried.

V. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Fiore Tree Grant Application
Chairperson Errickson-Grahek gave an update on the Hometown Grant. She stated the total
amount requested was $50,000 and that the application was due on June 20, 2025. Chairperson
Errickson-Grahek stated that if the enhancements of electricity, and irrigation were not purchased,
the tree would be $25,000.
2. Tree Plan
Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that there was no new information regarding the plan and
that Committee Member Fuchs would be contacting nurseries to obtain pricing and availability of
varieties.
Committee Member Port stated that she had visited playgrounds in Hugo and Rochester where
both had trees near playgrounds.
A discussion ensued as to the placement of the trees, fall zones, the cost of the trees and
equipment. Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that they would be in contact with the Interim
Public Works Director to discuss placement.
3. Pickleball Court Nets
Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that she had reviewed the pickleball net quotes of $1,800
totaling $5,400 for three.
Motion by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek to
rescind the committee’s previous motion regarding nets and not to exceed $12,000.
A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the storage of the nets and amenities.
Motion by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek to
amend the cost not to exceed $10,000. All in favor. Motion carried.
Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that they would need to discuss with Interim Public Works
Director Peterson regarding storage and drainage of the hockey rink.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
1. Fete des Lacs 5/8K Run & Paddle Event (update)
Chairperson Errickson-Grahek introduced Ms. Nissa Larson. Ms. Larson gave an update on the

run coordination. She stated that everything was going well and that the mileage was checked due
to the newly constructed location of the trail at the Rice Creek Chain of Lake entrance.
Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that the paddle event was scheduled for Sunday, of Fete des
Lacs at 11:00 a.m.
2. Scout Request for Use of Hidden Spring Park
City Clerk Bender stated that there has never been an issue with the Scout’s use of City facilities
and that they are good stewards of the community.
Motion by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member Akpan to
recommend to Council approval of the Scout’s Use of Hidden Spring Park as presented. All
in favor. Motion carried.
VII. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
1. None.
VIII. UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. Staff Updates – Ms. Teresa Bender, City Clerk
a. Main Street Market – She stated that they had another food vendor register and
reported on a Community Night as a Themed event for the Market.
2. Committee Member Updates – Committee Member
a. Disc Golf – Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that the disc golf course was
scheduled to be late July or early August.
b. LaMotte Play Structure – Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that the play
structure was approved by Council and thanked the Council, Engineer and Legal
Counsel for all of their input and assistance.
c. Music in the Park – Committee Member Peterson reviewed the upcoming
schedule for Music in the Park – stating that Rebel River was recommended by
former coordinator Mr. Tom Lee and that WiseGuys was scheduled for the vendor
the evening of Fete des Lacs.
3. Council Liaison Updates – Council Liaison Kubat thanked the committee for all of their
hard work, the presentation of the disc golf course, and the tree plan. He updated them on
the finalists for the new City Administrator.

Motion by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member Peterson to
adjourn the June 4, 2025, Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting at 8:16 p.m. All in favor.
Motion carried.
