CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />1. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1. Met Council Requirements for Density and 2050 Land Use Plan <br />Met Council Representative Dvorak, Senior Planner with the Met Council, provided an overview of <br />the Met Council organization and the process for the upcoming 2050 Comprehensive Plan. A few <br />highlights of the presentation are: <br /> <br /> There are currently over 3 million people living in the Twin Cities region and the Council <br />projects the region will grow by 657,000 people by 2050. <br /> <br /> There is a 10-year regional planning cycle. <br /> <br /> System statements start the local planning process and are specific to each community. They <br />explain the impact of the 2050 policy and system plans to each local government. System <br />plans are transportation, regional parks and trails, and water (inclusive of wastewater, surface <br />water, and water supply). <br /> <br /> System Statements are individualized for each community. They include forecasted growth <br />and general development expectations. <br /> <br /> The Met Council has a lot of resources to help communities with their 2050 comprehensive <br />plans. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />
