The city of Centerville has an extensive trail system that connects to Anoka County's regional trail system, and provides good connection to many neighborhoods and adjoining roadways. The proposed project (see exhibit A), includes trails to be reclaimed in full and those that require seal-coating and crack sealing. The proposed project will coincide with a mill and overlay project on the north side of town. The project is also being presented to the Met Council for consideration for an Active Transportation grant that would help offset construction costs. The trails on the project plan would most likely be closed for a duration of timeweather dependent for individual segments and corresponding road work. Meeting Date: July 1, 2026 Administration/Public Works 3.2 TITLE OF ISSUE: Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park Study BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: At their May 14, 2026 meeting, the City Council approved the Capital Improvement Plan for 2026. Of those items, was a park study for Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. This study is an all encompassing study of current park assets and infrastructure, and activities. The study will include various options for park improvements in the context of maximizing park space and patron recreational opportunities. Oertel Architects is the hired consultant for this project. This entity has much experience in municipal public work and parks projects in the greater Twin Cities and will be working with staff to bring new concepts and trending recreational possibilities for our community to consider. These concepts will be brought forward to various community groups and the Committee will have an opportunity to provide feedback regarding the future proposed projects for the park. This process of design will last approximately 60 days before the information will be presented. Staff is presenting options for new signage in the park system to replace old and weathered signs that are past their useful life and to bring a vibrant new look that is consistent to all the parks in Centerville. The proposed type of signs are manufactured with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) to resist sun and weather fading over the years, while maintaining their colors and intensity with twenty years or more for longevity. These signs resist warping and color loss, while continuing a strong integrity as a sign structure. These signs are often placed with cedar posts in the park system again for duration and anti-decay. Staff recommends looking at samples from Vacker Signs and other vendors.
