TITLE OF ISSUE:
Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park Study
BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
At the October 7, 2026, Parks & Recreation Committee meeting representatives from Oertel Architect will
present survey results, along with early concept designs of a park facility building at Laurie LaMotte Memorial
Park. The concepts come with square footage cost estimates that correlate to each option.
Staff is requesting input from the Committee on the options presented. The final concept will be presented to
the city council for inclusion in the city's Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

TITLE OF ISSUE:
Parks Signage ADA Fonts
BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
At the September 2, 2026, Parks & Recreation Committee meeting, there was consensus on park signage
shapes and colors from Vacker Sign Company samples. One other aspect that was discussed was font used for
lettering. The Committee agreed that completing the signage in an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
approved font would be appropriate. Staff and committee members discussed pricing and finalized sign
manufacturer, Vacker Sign Company, as the vendor to purchase signage from. Four fonts are presented for
Committee selection purposes. Staff requests the Committee come to a consensus on an ADA font and provide
direction to bring to the City Council for approval and for inclusion in the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

TITLE OF ISSUE:
2026 & 2027 Capital Improvement Plan - Amenities (benches, picnic tables, Kiosk @ LaMotte)
BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
At the September 2, 2026, Parks & Recreation Committee meeting, the Committee came to a consensus
regarding composite picnic tables and benches being the type of fixtures for parks. At the meeting, staff had
provided options to consider for style and price. Additional styles and prices are includ in the ommittee's
packet. Staff requests the ommittee select a style and price point for a bench and picnic table standard to
replace current park benches and picnic tables. Staff will begin to replace benches and picnic tables with
selected standard with priority given to those that are in the worst condition. Replaces will occur as
funding allows.
COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING:
Fund 409 - Capital Replacement Fund

Fiore Tree - Fall & Winter Decorations

Public Works has installed conduit for electricity to for the Fiore Tree and it's time for the Committee to discuss
fall and winter decorations.

Volunteer Appreciation Event
BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
The Parks and Recreation Committee has planned the city's annual volunteer appreciation event for several
years, and recruiting volunteers to assist with this event has been challenging.
Staff is requesting feedback on whether the Committee would like to continue planning this event. City staff is
able to handle event planning logistics internally if needed.

2027 Calendar of Events
BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
The committee annually schedules their events so they can be included in the City's Calendar, marketing,
committee member's schedules, etc.
Key events: Skate Nights, Music in the Park, Main Street Market, Paddle des Lacs/Fun Runs, Movie in the
Park, Volunteer Appreciation, and Trunk or Treat/Touch-a-Truck.
Importantates: Fete des Lacs (July 12-18, 2027), Lions Fishing Contest (Feb. 13, 2027) & Lions Christmas
in the Park (2nd Saturday of December).
