ADJOURNMENT Parks & Recreation Committee- Council Meeting- Planning & Zoning Commission - City Council 2007-06-05, 6:00 p.m. Minutes of Work Session Present were Mayor Mary Capra, Council members Michelle Lakso, Linda Broussard- Vickers, JeffPaar, and Tom Lee. Also present were Finance Director John Meyer, Public Works Director Paul Palzer and consultant city engineer Mark Statz. The purpose of the meeting was to review property of Dennis Shudy at 2085 Cedar Street, which has recently become available for sale. The Council wished to consider whether the property would be a suitable location for public works maintenance. Paul Palzer explained how the building might be finished to satisfy the needs of the Public Works Department. Mr. Shudy indicated that he would provide an architectural plan for approval and then finish the building to the City's satisfaction. John Meyer suggested that the city could purchase the property without adding to the levy. Approximately $400,000 has been set aside for the project and at least that amount would likely be received through the sale of the existing public works site. The remaining amount could be paid from utility funds, as that is part of the function of Public Works. It was suggested by staff that an option could be prepared and brought to the next council meeting for consideration. Mark Statz suggested that his firm could provide expertise in analyzing the building design and layout of the site for Public Works. He indicated hat he would prepare a cost estimate to provide these services and provide that to the Council as they consider the matter. MN 55038 Re: Public Works Facility Site and Building Design Review City of Centerville Bonestroo File No.: 000616-07000-0 Dear Dallas: During our site visit to the Shudy Property, the council and 1 discussed having our firm review the property owner's architect's new drawings as well as the drawings for the site improvements. At the request of the Mayor, I have put together a scope of services outline and fee estimate for review of the revised architectural drawings of the Public Works Building and Site Plan. Buildinq We would review the general layout of the building (floor plan) along with elevations and other architectural details for issues relating to the City's planned use for the building. Our review would NOT cover Structural, Electrical or Mechanical drawings. Fee Estimate - 55,000 Site For this work we propose two options. The owner's architect/engineer could revise the site plan based on direction given by the public works department. We would then review those revised drawings.
