JOINT WORK SESSION
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION & CITY COUNCIL
August 7, 2007
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission
held a Work Session meeting on August 7, 2007, at 7:36 p.m.

I.COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT REVIEW
1.Bonestroo & Associates
Mr. Brandon Slotterback, Bonestroo & Associates, presented the updated Comprehensive
Plan goals and policies.
Mr. Slotterback explained that the goals are intended to provide a vision of what
Centerville will be when the plan is fully implemented, the polices are implementation
steps to achieve the goals, and together, they provide an important foundation for
developing Land Use Alternatives.
Mr. Slotterback requested that Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission
members answer the following three questions about goals and policies:
1) Is there a topic missing among the goals? The City Council and Planning and
Zoning Commission members agreed the list was adequate.
2) Is there a planning initiative missing or is there a topic that fits under one of
the existing goals that the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission
feels is not addressed or not adequately addressed? Mr. Slotterback noted the
changes recommended by City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission
members.
3) Is there a goal or policy that the City Council and Planning and Zoning
Commission members do not agree with? Mr. Slotterback noted the changes
recommended by City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission
members.

Mr. Slotterback explained the next steps are to finalize the goals and policy changes and
begin work on Land Use Alternatives. He stated that he would submit a new draft to City
Administrator Larson for distribution.
City Administrator Larson suggested that another meeting be held on October 2, 2007.
All recommended changes are to be forwarded to City Administrator Larson.
Mr. Slotterback commented that the next community open house is tentatively scheduled
for October 2007. He indicated that the Land Use Alternatives should be ready by that
date. He stated that feedback from the public would be solicited at this time.
The members agreed that the open house might slip to November 2007.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Commissioner Love, seconded by Commissioner Fehrenbacher, to
adjourn the August 7, 2007 Joint Planning & Zoning Commission/Council Work
Session at 8:52 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
