HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-11-14 CC WSCITY OF CENTERVILLE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION November 14, 2007 6:00 p.m. Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their work session meeting on November 14, 2007, at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. PRESENT: Mayor Mary Capra Council Member Tom Lee Council Member Michelle Lakso Council Member Jeff Paar Council Member Linda Broussard ABSENT: None STAFF: City Administrator Dallas Larson City Engineer Mark Statz I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Capra called the November 14, 2007, City Council Work Session to order at 6:00 p.m. II.ITEMS OF DISCUSSION 1.Interview with Mr. Roland Parrucci for Planning and Zoning Candidate Mr. Parrucci was askedthe following questions: a.What do you see as the role of the Planning and Zoning Commission? Mr. Parrucci replied he believes the role is to review ordinances and ensure appropriateness and ensure health and safety of the community through ordinances. b.What practical experience or expertise can you bring to the Commission? Mr. Parrucci replied he is a business manager of Oakdale Schools for many years and was responsible for the operations of the School District health and safety programs. c.What do you perceive to be the important issue facing Centerville? Mr. Parrucci replied growth. He believes the City is facing two conflicting issues: 1) The older residents wanting to leave the City as it has been, and 2) the younger residents wanting to see growth. City of Centerville Council Work Session November 14, 2007 d.As a Planning and Zoning member, there might be occasions where planning related applications involve individuals, corporations, or other business interests that might have a personal, professional, or business relationship with you. How would you determine if a potential conflict of interest exists and how would you handle that situation? Mr. Parrucci replied if a personal gain for him were the case he would excuse himself from the issue. e.Why are you interested in becoming a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission? Mr. Parrucci replied he believes it is a way to give back to the community. f.How long have you lived in Centerville? Mr. Parrucci replied since 2000. g.Have you attended any Planning and Zoning meetings? If so, when? Mr. Parrucci replied he attended the meeting on November 13, 2007. h. How have you been involved in the community? i.If not appointed to this commission, would you be interested in serving on another committee. Mr. Parrucci replied yes, he would like to get involved. j.Do you have any comments or questions? Mr. Parrucci replied the next few years will be tough. Discussion ensued. Mayor Capra informed Mr. Parrucci that a joint meeting of all the commissions and committees would be held in the near future so he could meet everyone. III.CONVENE TO CITY COUNCIL MEETING Mayor Capra adjourned the work session at 6:19 p.m. and convened to the City Council Meeting.
