HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-06-07 Minutes PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 1994 - 7:00 P.M. Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 7, 1994 at the City Hall. Chairperson Tourville called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present: Drilling, LaMotte, Welk. Absent: Vermeulen. City Council Liaison Wilharber arrived at 8:40 p.m. MINUTES: May 4. 1994 Meeting Minutes. Motion by Drilling, second by Tourville to approve the May 4, 1994 meeting minutes; AYE - Drilling; AYE - Tourville; AYE - Welk; ABSTAIN - LaMotte, motion carried. OLD BUSINESS: Ordinance #4. Article 7 - Definitions. The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the draft of amendments and additions to Ordinance #4, Article 7- Definitions. A copy is attached to and made a part of these minutes. It appeared to be the consensus of the Planning and Zoning Commission to direct City staff to assemble the changes suggested to date regarding the updating of Ordinance #4 for discussion at the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS: 1995 Budget. It was noted the 1995 Budget was placed on the agenda to allow the alannina and Toning Commission time to start thinking about the dollar amount to be requested from the City Council. Motion by Tourville, second by Drilling to table discussion of the 1995 Planning and Zoning Commission Budget, motion carried unanimously. Comprehensive Plan - MUSA Extension. Chairperson Tourville updated the Planning and Zoning Commission regarding the joint meeting of the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Park and Recreation Committee and the Economic Development Committee regarding the updating of the Comprehensive Plan and extension of the MUSA. The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed a map prepared by City staff highlighting properties located within the MUSA which are undeveloped. P &Z MEETING MINUTES JUNE 7, 1994 PAGE TWO Mayor Buckbee expressed the City Council has allotted 150 days for the Planning and Zoning Commission to make a recommendation to the City Council regarding extension of the MUSA. Mayor Buckbee asked that the Planning and Zoning Commission take steps to expedited their recommendation in less than 150 days. Mayor Buckbee noted at the joint meeting concern was expressed regarding the proposed Flood Plain Project. Mayor Buckbee appeared to feel the flood plain and MUSA are to separate issues. Mayor Buckbee stated that, in his opinion, the extension for MUSA should encompass the entire City of Centerville. It appeared to be the consensus of the Planning and Zoning Committee to direct City staff to research the following information for discussion at the next meeting: - How much MUSA was originally allotted to the City; - How much MUSA has currently been utilized; How much MUSA remains unutilized within the City; - How many acres are currently not included within the MUSA.
