HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-12-01 Minutes Pursuant to due call and notico thareof, th_ Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Centerville held its regular meeting on Tuesday, December 1, 1987. Chairman Tourville called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Present: Lindgren, Welk, Drilling, and Council liaison Fritchie. Absent: Vermeulen. Motion by Welk, second by Drilling to approve the minutes of the November 3 meeting, motion carried unanimously. APPEARANCES Sonny DaBruzzi of Ro - -So Contracting, Inc., and Dan Hollihan of Deh -wood Cabinets, 7137 - 20th Avenue North, were present to discuss the notice from the City to the cabinet shop to vacate the Ro -So building by December 10, 1987. The reason being that the cabinet shop is in a Commercial Zone and should be in an Industrial Zone. The City Attorney has advised that the only way the shop can stay is if Ordinance #4 is amended to include light manufacturing in a Commercial Zone or rezone the land to Industrial. After a lengthy discussion it was decided that Mr. DaBruzzi should come in to City Hall tomorrow and ask to be put on the Agenda for the December 9 Council Meeting. The P &Z Commission members feel they do not have enough information to handle this situation. Note: It was decided that when Ordinance #4 is revamped it will include a definition for Construction Businesses. OLD BUSINESS Discussion of Ordinance #4 and some of the changes needed. Chairman Tourville went over some of the proposed changes from the list P &Z had made up when changes were discussed in the past. *It was noted for future reference that there should be notations of dates when Amendments were added into the Ordinance. Also, an index should be added. The Assistant Clerk was asked to make an index of all Amendments added to the Ordinance since it was originally written. *It was also noted by the Assistant Clerk that the Building Inspector suggests that a limit of 4 feet be set for height of fences in back yards. City Clerk informs P &Z that $250 is left in their 1987 Budget to carry over into 1988. Discussion of Council request that the requirement that geotextile fabric be used in all new and /or reconstructed streets. Chairman Tourville stated that Article #3, Section Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes Page Two December 1, 1987 38.03 -3 could be amended to include this. A Public Hearing must he scheduled for this purpose. Motion by Drilling, second by Lindgren to adjourn the meeting, motion carried unanimously.
