HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-08-01 Minutes CITY OF CENTERVILLE PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 1, 1996 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the park and recreation Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular scheduled meeting on August 1, 1996. Meeting was call to 4 . n order at 6:39 p.m. Members present: R. Thompson, D. Larson, N. Young, M. Navin, J�h"` K. Fogarty. Jim March also present, Absent: C. ZoffPelton, B. Bisek, City Council Liaison. P &R invited March to cover any issues since he was new. March disgussed the following: Lighting proposal from N.S.P. Liked the rate being proposed. Motion by Larson. Seconded by Johnson to install light, per Paul Palzer recommendation. Motion carried unanimously. Park acquisition; March explained the survey received. March pointed out the boundary that is ambiguous and the letter from the Attorney to consider title insurance. Willow Glen; a new development concept coming, before P &Z . The P &R respectively requested city authorities to consider the need for open space. OTHER BUSINESS: P &R reviewed the June 28, 1996 revised Eagle Park layout. There's great concern about the placement of the park on the north side. Concern from the prospect of drainage. There appears to be a lot of wetland. A point of 911ft appears on the east side, yet where the tennis courts are on the west side show an elevation of 909ft., where or how is water to drain? Rick briefed the group on the proposals made by Lino Lakes. to provide a recreation program. Rick will review informally. Discussion concerning the number of committee members on P &R board. Some members of the committee felt P &R should be reduced from 7 to 5 members. In order to fully consider the proposal: a) City staff is directed to send written notification to Carol Pelton and Bill Biesk to determine their continued interest. b) Based on their action, this should be placed on the agenda for September. Fees for the use of city owned appliances.
