PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 7, 1996
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of
Centerville held their regular scheduled meeting on February 7, 1996. Meeting was called
to order at 6:40 p.m. Members present: R. Thompson, C. ZoffPelton, B. Bisek, M.
Navin and Councilmember Powers - Rasmusse Absent: K. Fogerty, N. Johnson, D.
Larson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Quorum was not sufficient to approve January meeting minutes.
APPEARANCES
DEAN JOHNSON. RESOURCE STRATEGIES
Dean Johnson passed out a park plan and discussed with the committee. Corrections and
updates were made to the park plan.
Dean Johnson requested the committee to consider: 1. Committee needs to put more
attention in terms of planning to the southern part of the city, specifically south of Center
Street and east of County Hwy 21. 2. It was pointed out that the city owns a 40 foot
outlot on Peltier Lake.
Dean Johnson asked for any other comments the committee may have concerning planning
and policy. None were give other that Pelton requesting Dean's feedback on the P&R
direction.

Marty Asleson, Barry Bernstein, Program Supervisor; and Janet Bona,
North Metro Recreation.
Asleson presented 3 issues:
1. Trail issues, there is a meeting on trails on February 8, 1996 in Hugo on trail -
"Greenway System ".
1 Athletic Complex
3. General Recreation, Asleson suggested that perhaps he and his staff are open to enter
into a sharing of Lino Lakes recreation services.

Bottom line is that Lino Lakes is proposing to share services to better benefit the citizens
of the community. Navin went on the record to express his desire to volunteer to put
together a proposal to share services with Lino Lakes.
Navin will contact North Metro and be placed on the next agenda to discuss this proposal
by Lino Lakes in general terms.
OLD BUSINESS
L.AMOTTE PARK UPDATE_
No new news on this issue.
RINK UPDATE.
Thompson reported that he attended the January 25, 1995 CYHA Gambling Board
meeting for cash for $1200 to help to cover the cost of flooding the rink. The board will
vote on this issue at the next meeting.
ADA MEETING
Pelton gave an update stating that she has faxed her research material to North Metro.
NEW BUSINESS
GOLF ON ICF
Note that Golf on Ice is a Lions sponsored event.
SNOWMOBIT,F TRAILS
There are no snowmobile trail on P &R land.
CITY NEWSLETTER
P &R appreciate the opportunity to submit articles to the city newsletter. Fogerty has
volunteered to act as contact for newsletter. P &R will want to publicize Arbor Day
cleanup.
LOSS CONTROL
Thompson has expressed an interest in attending this session. City staff is to arrange.

Documentation was requested, Little League has complied. P &R has already approved
this action.
COLLEEN O'NEU,
Ms. O 'Neil has requested to be before City Council on February 28, 1996 to discuss
playground equipment at the school. P &R has no jurisdiction in this matter, therefore they
decline to have a P &R representation there.

NOTE: City Council liaison left abruptly at 8:00 p.m., reason unknown.
ADJOURN
MOTION by Bisek, second by Pehon to adjourn the regular meeting at 9:00 p.m. Motion
carried unanimously.
