PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 6, 1995
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of
Centerville held their regular scheduled meeting on September 6, 1995. Meeting was
called to order at 6:41 p.m. Members present: Thompson, Larson, Bisek and Navin.
Absent: Pelton.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Pelton was present at the August meeting and should be noted, she arrived late.
MOTION by Thompson, second by , to approve the August 2, 1995
meeting minutes with the above correction. Motion carried unanimously.
APPEARANCES

OLD BUSINESS
North Metro Recreation
Park and Recreation request that Trudi Breuninger contact Carl Saarion to provide
specific information for a period of time, i.e. 1994, of the number of Centerville residents
participation in North Metro, Information is requested for October meeting.
Title U
Park and Recreation Committee recognizes the requirements of Title II and subject to
financial parameters, wholeheartedly support Title II actions.
Public Works Performance Criteria
Committee member Bisek gave an update of the progress on this subject. Bisek has been
working with Paul Palzer on this and discussed various issues with the members. The
discussion on this subject 1* P &R committee indicates the following:
- financial resources is not presently adequate to maintain existing parks.
- the financial resources limit the appropriate use of manpower and equipment
necessary to do a good job.

MOTION by Thompson, second by Bisek to table this issue until Park and Recreation
Committee member Pelton is present. Motion carried unanimously.

LaMott a operty
MOTION by Bisek, second by Larson to recommend the us of $20,000.00 in earnest
money for P &R to purchase the LaMotte property. Motion carried unanimously.
P &R Committee is requesting an update by the Council regarding:
- the purchase process
- land survey
Nite Golf
Bisek updated the P &R Committee on the event schedule for September 29, 1995. Lights
and balls have been ordered. Plans are to run it the same as last year. Earnings for P &R
are estimated to be approximately $500.00.
P &R wants to insure that a thank you letter is sent to Choimoux Golf Course.
Volunteers are needed for Friday night and clean up on Saturday. Clean up begins at 7:00
a.m. on Saturday. Navin will assist in lining up volunteers. P &R requests that Trudi
Breuninger place on outdoor sign: "P&R Nite Golf, 9/29 Contact City Hall".
NEW BUSINESS
Nancy Johnson
Please invite Ms. Johnson to October meeting. P &R appreciates her interest and would
like to meet her first.
Ice Rink
P &R Committee recommends that Public Works take over the flooding of the rink. This
includes cleaning (sweeping) of the rink. This maintenance is to be done daily.
Centennial Soccer Club
Centennial Soccer Club made a written request to use the LaMotte Park for September
10, 1995.
MOTION by Larson, second by Thompson to approve the use of the park for September
10, 1995, to the Centennial Soccer Club. Motion carried, Navin abstained from voting.
2nd Annual Rink Improvement flay
P &R will hold the 2nd Annual Rink Improvement Day on October 7, 1995, 9:00 a.m.
General fix up of the rink will be done as well as putting a cover on the one penalty box.
P &R requests that Trudi Breuninger put on outdoor sign: "2nd Annual Rink
Improvement Day on October 7, 1995, 9:00 a.m. ".

MOTION by Navin, second by Larson to adjourn the regular Park & Recreation meeting
at 8:14 p.m., motion carried unanimously.
