MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, February 1, 1995 - 6:30 p.m.
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Park and Recreation
Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting
on Wednesday, February 1, 1995 at the City Hall. Acting
Chairperson Rich Thompson called meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.
Present: Larson, Thompson, Pelton and Councilmember Buckbee.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
December 4, 1994 and January 4, 1995 meeting
Consideration of the December 4, 1994 and January 4, 1995 meeting
minutes was tabled.
OLD BUSINESS:
Rink Maintenance Update
Ice is in good shape.
Rink Attendant Update
One attendant was let go due to not showing up and not getting
substitutes. Currently Jim Nadeau, Arron Dixon, Richard
Peterson, Jill Novak and Ryan Cerepak are the attendants. These
five are working out great. Five seems a good number to allow
for substitutes if needed.
Central Park Extension Update
Originally, according to the tasks setup in fall 1994, Site
Development, including Central Park expansion, was to be worked
on by Linda Drilling and Carol Zoff Pelton. Linda was on hiatus
until January, then resigned as of the February meeting.
Therefore, no further effort has been put into Central Park site
development to date. Pelton suggested Park & Recreation solicit
new members to help with these tasks.
Park & Recreation anticipates with new members, a site
development plan will provide an estimate for development costs
do enter into the proposal for purchase of the extension of the
park, to be used for a comprehensive grant proposal.
Trails Update
Pelton presented info she received at the meeting held by met
Council and MNDOT in January. Park & Recreation proposed to be
ready with a joint venture trail proposal for CSAH 14 &52 for
construction in 2000/2001 by 4th quarter 1995, when solicitations
for proposals are due. It's anticipated that Centerville will be
working with Lino Lakes, Centennial School Dist., Anoka County
Park & Recreation and Highway Department.
NEW BUSINESS:
Park and Pedestrian System
Motion by Pelton, second by Thompson to request City Council
approve the Park and Pedestrian System. Comp Plan at the
February meeting. This will be required for any grants and will
expedite the projects as discussed in old business. Passed
unanimously.
Lino Lakes Vision 2010 Plan
Motion by Pelton, second by Larson. Park and Recreation
recommends two copies of the approved Centerville Park and
Pedestrian System Comprehensive Plan be given to Lino Lakes for
their consideration as they develop their Vision 2010 Plan.
Then, we would request a representative attend over March meeting
to discuss if and how they would like to participate in the
development Pedestrian System (CSAH 14 & 52) of the plan. Passed
unanimously.
Chain of Lakes Little League:
Regarding letter of January 2, 1995; Rick will contact Patrick
Mehr to confirm need for Monday- Friday p.m. of both fields. Dale
to contact Trio, Kelly's and Waterworks to see if they need any
fields this year. They need to note in writing their intentions
to the City by February 24, 1995, for consideration at March 1,
1995 Park and Recreation meeting where commitment will be made.
Motion by Thompson for letter from City Council to Drilling and
Reisdorfer an Dixon to express gratitude for commitment to
service of the City on Park and Recreation committee. Second by
Pelton, passed unanimously.
Acorn Creek Development
City Councilmember Buckbee updated Park and Recreation on Acorn
Creek Development. The easement for ped access has not been
registered with the County. Jerry Rehbein may be present at the
March meeting to discuss this matter.
Accounts to Date Report
Thompson requested a dollar accounts to date report at the March
meeting.
North Metro Recreation
Park and Recreation request that a representative from North
Metro Recreation attend our March meeting or send written info to
update us on current rec. offerings, locations, attendance, etc.
ADJOURN
Motion by Pelton, second by Larson, motion carried unanimously at
8:30 p.m.
